Marine Mapping & GIS
Marine Mapping & GIS
Total Hydrographic understands the importance of delivering accurate and user friendly marine maps to our clients. Total Hydrographic produce hydrographic survey plans and nautical charts of an exceptional quality.
To produce marine maps and plans to the highest quality we use:
- Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
- Geographic Information System (GIS) software
- Specialised marine mapping/survey software
GIS is a software system used to import, capture, store, manage, view, extract, analyse and display geospatial data related to positions on the earth’s surface.
We are qualified and experienced cartographers and GIS consultants, ready to complete your next marine mapping or drafting project.
Marine Mapping & Drafting
Important and costly decisions are made off the back of hydrographic survey plans and nautical charts. To protect yourself, your project and your investment it’s essential that all mapping and drafting work is undertaken by qualified nautical cartographers, survey draftspeople or Geographic Information System (GIS) specialists.
Total Hydrographic have this expertise.
Geographic Information Systems
Geographic Information System(GIS) is what allows you to interact easily with your survey and spatial data.
GIS makes it simpler for people to be able to view, analyse and understand relationships or patterns in geospatial data. It can transform dry and complicated data into something that can be used practically, making it easier to understand your information and use it more effectively. This reduces risk and helps you to more efficiently manage your environment.
Ensure you get the best out of your investment with Total Hydrographic.
Electronic Navigational Charts
Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) are digital versions of paper charts mapping the marine environment which act as aids to navigation. ENCs are compiled according to the International Hydrographic Organization’s (IHO) standards. Mariners, navigators, port staff and stakeholders rely on accurate information presented in ENCs.
Total Hydrographic not only create ENCs but we can maintain and update the charts on regular basis. Let us show you the benefits of a customised ENC.
Hydrographic Volume Calculations
Volume computations are crucial for:
- Water authorities
- Port authorities
- Dredging contractors
Calculated computations can provide accurate volumes in relation to a waterbody. Performing these calculations is the only reliable way to ascertain this valuable information and avoid nasty surprises. This critical information will enable you to conduct more robust planning, validate work conducted and minimise risk.
Cross Section Profiles
Cross section profiles are a cost-effective method of acquiring survey data as it reduces the quantity of data capture required.
We can provide cross section profiles to check that rock walls, groynes, channel batters and other structures have been built to the correct design specifications. This may avoid potentially dangerous ramifications later down the track.
Cross Sections Profiles can be useful for beach profiling, river profiling, break water profiles and channel profiles.
Channel Designs for Dredging
Are you responsible for maintaining a safe water channel in your port, boat harbour or boat ramp?
It is highly likely that you will require dredging to allow for safe depths. A dredge removes sediments from the bottom of a fresh water area or shallow sea and disposes of them elsewhere.
A channel design can be instrumental in providing you and your dredging contractor with the essential information required to complete a successful dredging campaign.
